Dear James from SOM, Yes, please go to COBIE on the Whole Building Design Guide and see a PDF, powerpoint, and other "How-to" items on COBIE. Specifically for this template, there is no user's manual, but the main thing to know is that it is pre-populated with all the parameters/data fields that COBIE reads and an IFC export will populate the COBIE database/workbook. Hope SOM uses it sometime! For more info, talk to Frank Moore or John Sullivan of Autodesk. Thanks! --Pat Suermann

Patrick, in the video they demo a tool that takes the exported content and populates the COBIE spreadsheet. It looks like the export is actually to text files which are then imported into COBIE. Do you know how that was done?

Hi, I've added Allplan and Vectorworks from Nemetschek. Allplan is a great BIM software tool although not the most flexible one. Also added Vectorworks a very similar American market version. Daniel Llácer

Van, Sorry for the delay - I just noticed question #5. They completed the COBIE demo in two ways. One was an IFC export and read into the COBIE Excel workbook. The other was a macro where they exported all the schedules as txt files and then completed an import into Excel. I think they were trying to show that it could be done via IFC or more traditional data transfer means. The person at Autodesk who could tell you more specifics is Michael Juros.
